While Santa Claus has been around since the 1820’s from European folktales, Mrs. Claus was created in 1849 from a book written by American author James Rees. The Women’s Traditional Mrs. Claus Costume features a full length long sleeve red dress with lace trim, a coordinating mop cap with holly applique and full apron with pockets and a holly applique. Mrs. Claus didn’t become popular until 1889 but since then she has been in movies, books and plays all over the world. This costume is ideal for Christmas parties or plays.
