American Model Builders 185 PRR MO Tower

Product Description

This is American Model Builders 185 PRR MO Tower. Pennsylvania. Laser cut wood kit with stairs. Based on MO Tower, the prototype of this kit served the Pennsylvania Railroad at Creston, Pennsylvania, and similar towers were found all along the railroad. In service from 1899 until 1994, arrangements were made to preserve MO, but it collapsed while being moved off railroad property and was sadly demolished in December, 1998. Working from the original 1899 plans as well as photos and sketches, the finished model depicts the tower as it appeared from the 1940s to the end. Its key features are: Bild-Strate construction, parts are easily aligned during assembly without using complex templates and wax paper or special jigs Freestanding staircase has footer components tabbed into the stock sheet, which are left in place until the stairs, risers, and stair tower are completed Details include all of the prototype’s gingerbread trim, decorative rafter ends and second floor corbels Resin casting for the two-story-plus tall chimney Second story is engineered as a sub-assembly to replicate the delicate look of the prototype Window walls are built in layers with separate glazing and peel & stick sashes, then joined to the first floor Knock-outs on the first floor, so that interlocking components (sold separately) may be retrofitted to the existing structure if desired Dimensions: 5 x 3 x 4-1/2′ (12.7cm x 7.6cm x 11.4cm) Condition: Factory New ( C-9) Operational Status: FunctionalOriginal Box: Yes (P-9) Manufac
