Wolfskin calls the insulation Downfiber. It’s 70% 700-fill down, which is renowned for its packability and warmth-to-weight ratio and 30% Microguard Maxloft, which adds extra insulation and added water resistance to keep you warm if the day ends up soggy. All of this is packed inside Stormlock polyester, a tough and wind-blocking fabric that keeps the elements out and the insulation in. A good ski jacket needs a solid collection of features, too, and the Downfiber doesn’t disappoint. It starts out with Wolfskin’s Vent Support System, which features two underarm vents to let moisture escape and bring some cool air in, and a detachable powder skirt and drawstring hem keep the champagne powder and icy drafts from blowing up your back.
